The Progressive Gene analyzes the influence of genetics on the Morality of the Left. Based on research done by Jonathan Haidt and described in his book The Righteous Mind, we know that the moral foundations of the Left are different from those on the Right. The Left is focused on caring and fairness as the principle components of morality in a political system , while the Right has a very different moral view.

The United States today is in a tribal state as a result of social and political polarization. The Left has moved quickly to change public morality and the pace of this change is disturbing to the Right. Politics have also become polarized as moderate elements, who used to manage communications between Left and Right have disappeared.
